Why bitter, butty? I thought it was hilarious. Super sentai Rin and Sousuke facing off against mad scientist Rei is some of the funniest buttabro material we've gotten from the drama CDs.

Then again, this is coming from someone whose favorite ships in other fandoms are of the hero/villain variety and I may or may not be secretly plotting an AU because of it.

Rinrei is known as "butterfly boyfriends", "r^2", "flutterbuddies" (connotes friendship more), nerds and crybabies (used lovingly), among others.

Rinrei fans are majestic flap-flaps, shit-eaters (it's positive reilly!), butt-chan-sans, butties.

The meme is called the buttcave.

I think, aside from puns and butterflies, this is what defines us most: nicknames.

Ok unless I'm mistaken, which is possible, there is apparrently a rinrei fan out there going by my first and last name whom I have never met before. In this small (?) of a group, it seems to be an unlikely coincidence to have two people with the same name.
First exes paired up, now doppelgangers. I thought you guys were joking about all of us being on the same wave length, but this is starting to freak me out just a little. But in a good way.

I don't want to derail the RinRei week dicussion, but a little buttie birdie told me 30DOR is in dire need of butt-chan-sans! Their butt level at the moment is 0%.

I think the timing is a little unfortunate, but on the flip side there's no word limit for fics and judging by last year's submissions the "Rin-centric" requirement doesn't have to be taken too literally. There's a lot of art where both characters share equal focus, and Rei POV would work just fine... :)

Rei looks so precious! That bby blush, and that genuinely happy face! By my observation, it seems like Rei's a very emotional, and judging by the entwined fingers, he is easily attached to people.

Rin on the other hand, has...Are those flowers or glitters on the bottom of his shirt? Anyways, I love how Rin is illustrated here, like all the expressions of the boys, he seems content and comfortable, even with holding hands with a new friend. :")

RinRei Secret Agent AU Opinions

Hey butties! I really need some opinions regarding Rin and Rei in the Future Fish Secret Agent AU Ending. I'm planning to do a Secret Agent AU but something about the ED is really bothering me. How do I explain this..

if we think about it, in that Alternate Universe, I take it that Rin didn't experience his dilemma (in Season 1) in his younger years. That dilemma had a dramatic impact on him and turned his cute personality upside down. Rin was livelier during his younger years even when he went to Australia, right? So if all those insecurities with Haru and his "chase after my father's dream" thing didn't happen, Rin may have grown up more outgoing and perhaps a lot different from the Rin in canon. As for Rei, when he was first introduced in the series, he was a big ball of seriousness and coolness before the Swim Club. So he didn't have the chance to become frustrated at something he can't do and develop his screaming tendencies (a lot, maybe sometimes he still does that) but I believe he would still be a dork.

What made me think of this is the art/animation of the ED. I really rely a lot on visuals when I write e.g. I have a habit of analyzing facial expressions especially the eyes (window to the soul? xD) and deduce their personality from that! So the gist is, I'm planning to recreate Rei and Rin using those set of personalities if the dramatic change didn't happen since it is set in an Alternate Universe (Rin and Rei don't know Haru and co. personally as well). Or would that be too OOC for them even in an AU? I also want to know if I did push with this, would you be interested to read?? Since I know that stories which come off as OOC pushes some buttons in us. Thanks in advance!

It will help to familiarise yourself with their RinRei AU characterizations, which have different styles and takes on the Future Fish world.

The closest to your work would be De's fic. Rin's a private investigator there, so that's closer to the secret agents idea (the others work on police!Rin). The fic has a noir-ish tone to it, so everyone's slightly more serious? darker? But I think it has amazing characterization so far.

That said, I'm so looking forward to your spin on Future Fish! :) Serious Rei and lively -but not too much- Rin can be IC as much as the other characterizations above imho, you just got to set up a good plot to it. Like if Rin's background in your fic says he didn't suffer from the dilemma, it's understandable if you write him closer to his younger self. Same for Rei.It's all in how you build the plot
